Kinan Abuakel
A Syrian Buzuk player, composer & project Leader, with 15 years of experience in composing, performing, and music teaching. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music from the Higher Institute of Music in Damascus, and a Master’s degree in Music from the Conservatorium van Amsterdam.
Kinan has performed with numerous orchestras and ensembles internationally and has appeared in festivals worldwide as a soloist on prestigious international stages. He is a recipient of several awards, including grants from the Arab Fund for Arts and Culture AFAC, Lebanon), Culture Resource (Belgium), Golden Residence for Artists (UAE), among others.
He has released two solo albums dedicated to the Arabic Buzuk and has worked as a Buzuk instructor at various music institutions in Syria and the Netherlands.
In addition to his artistic work, Kinan is deeply engaged in organising and leading community based music projects in the Netherlands focusing on culture exchange show circle connection and creative cooperation
